The logical analysis of physical phenomena

Many results in logic, in particular in computability theory and in model theory, express properties of sets of functions and sets of relations, such as the set of the polynomial functions, that of the computable functions, that of the relations definable by a formula in predicate logic, ... In particular, a part of the theory aims at constructing languages to express the functions and the relations of such sets. Several theses in physics, or about physics, can be phrased as properties of the set of the relations that can be physically realized. In this note we give examples of such theses and we discuss, from a logical point of view, some general issues about this set of relations and about these theses. First, the objectivity of this set of physically realized relations, then the relation between this set of relations and the language used to express the laws of nature and finaly the relation between these theses.
